Some of my friends asked me a question a week ago “How to let go of the past?” I consider this issue as critical and therefore have decided to give you some answers in today’s post.
Reasons to Let Go Of the Past
Before you let your past go, learn the reason why you should do it. Not all the arguments may be of the same importance for you, yet if at least one touches your heart, then the time has come to take some action. First, I will present to you with some reasons when closing the past is necessary:
Growing Apart From Someone Else
It becomes the truth that, no matter what you do or how much you explain yourself, some people will gradually evolve away from your core values. The same process may concern your person. The relationship becomes hard and eventually declines. It is not your fault or your partner’s, it is just life. Never blame yourself or the other person for the fact that you need to close the past.
Someone’s Negativity Impact
You are the average of the people you spend the most time with, usually the five of them. Thus, who you spend your time with has a great impact on the person you are and the person you become. Therefore, if you want to become a positive, full of light person, choose the relationships with the people who have these traits and instantly limit or cut off contact with negative individuals.
Unhappiness With Current Circumstances
It may be your job, your place of living or finance. Whichever option it is, focus on the creation of the wonderful future and close the painful and inconvenient past. Before you start changing your boss, your co-worker, your partner of your neighbours – start from self-transformation. Positive thinking, attitude and proactivity make wonders.
Past Fear Holding You back
– If you are afraid of something, it often results from your past experiences – in this life as well as the previous ones. If you want to move on, face your fear to be able to live the life to the fullest in all dimensions: physical, mental and spiritual.
Your Past Goals And Needs Have Changed
What was right for you ten years ago is not necessarily right for you now. Sometimes the hardest part is to realise that you have changed and then you have to learn to start over with your new truth. Sometimes the changes are physical, like menopause, having a baby, or spiritual, like finding your true self.
Not Letting Past Grudges And Grievances Go
Resentment and hatred will not only hold you back but also block your present blessings and opportunities. You are still angry and even seek revenge, ruminating over the event that had happened a long time ago. Not letting grudges and bitterness go will attract negative entities and people to you, creating a similar situation as this which you are nourishing with your thoughts.
You Catch Yourself Living In the Past
You are missing out if all you do is attempt to relive something that has already happened. If you clear your mind from the past, the mental space you create by letting old things go gives you the ability to fill the space with something fresh and fun. Remember that you cannot restore your wonderful childhood or youth, but you can always use the experiences from that time to live better now.
